So I'm in the middle of writing this book. It's really coming together and I could use your input on the idea. It's loosley Biblically based.
So before the beginning of man, God had three Angels that served directly under him and they were brothers. Lucifer, the oldest and most beautiful was the Light Bearer. There was Michael, the middle child. Then there was Raziel, the youngest. All three were the main generals in God's Army.
When God created man, Lucifer became jealous of mankind while Michael loved them with every fiber of his being. Raziel only loved his brothers and neither had a taste or distaste for man. Lucifer decided to form a coup against his Lord and Master, raising with him an army of rebel Angels.
God, seeing only bad things to come dispatched both Michael and Raziel to defeat Lucifer and send him to Heaven. Michael was all for it, but Raziel loved both of his brothers, refusing to fight a war he didn't believe in.
Michael defeats Lucifer and casts him and his minions to suffer in the presence of humanity. God is furious at Raziel for directly dosobeying his orders and punishes him. Raziel is stripped of his Angel powers, despite his brother's requests tokeep him in Heaven. He is given the job of neutrality. Raziel becomes the symbol of Death throughout Humanity's exitence. The Grim Reaper.
While Lucifer becomes the Devil in his infamy and Michael becomes a Saint in his fame, Raziel is wiped from history in name. He becomes only a symbol, never to be understood or reasoned with by man. He becomes a bodyguard of the deceased, taking them to the judge to either be sent to Heaven with Michael or Hell with Lucifer.
He spends eternity doing this. He ages physically, but is always reborn into the same person the next day, due to his angellic abilities. 2012 is near, and Raziel meets the woman of his dreams. They fall in love. Michael and Lucifer both don't like this. Michael because he wants God to forgive Raziel and have him join Heaven's ranks again. Lucifer because he wants the power of the Grim Reaper to join Hell's forces in the war against Heaven. Raziel chooses neither.
He ends up fighting both brothers for the love of his lady, fights for her existence and these events mark the end of the world for man in 2012. All of this over love.
