Did anybody watch them?? I did, and Ricky Gervais did a brilliant job at hosting. He was hilarious, especially when he was talking about how the americans are better off watching the UK version of the Office rather than the US version, as he made fun of Steve Carrell. Robert Downey Jr. had one of the best acceptance speeches I have ever heard. Instead of listing people he wanted to thank, he listed people he didn't want to thank, including his wife who told him that "Matt Damon is going to win, you shouldn't bother preparing an acceptance speech." He also said that Sherlock Holmes would have been taken to the cleanersby Avatar if it weren't for him.
Also, Paul McCartney presented the best animated film award, one of the funniets moments of the night. He opened with "My name is Paul McCartney, or as I am now known, that guy from Rock Band." Paul also hinted that Yellow Submarine, the animated movie, will be resurfacing in 2012. While he was talking about animated movies, he stated "But animation is not only for children. It is also for adults who are on drugs. So let's take a look at the films that were nominated by drug-taking adults." Arnold Swarchzenegger..or however you spell it, presented, but I could not undertsand a word he said..all I heard was "Avadar'. Also, The Hangover won best motiont picture (comedy/musical)! I was somewhat doubtful it would win because of the comercial success Nine was running against it, but The Hangover pulled through. Avatar won best motion picture (drama).
